Daily Devotional: Move to Intercessory Prayers
Memorise: And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the Lord my God, Ezra 9:5 KJV
Read: Ezra 9:1-8 1 1 Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass. 3 And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied. 4 Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice. 5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God,1 6 And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. 7 Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day. 8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage
Your life as a Christian and as a disciple of Jesus Christ must be clearly different from those fellows who are yet to know God. We live in a sinful world loaded with complaints and murmurings but we are called out unto lively hope by the special grace of God. Seeing that hope makes not ashamed, we are moved daily to trust God for the miraculous and to rely on him for our desired solutions. It will be so good to see all Christians working in this light and moved to prayers and praise to God especially in seemingly difficult times.
The current situation of the world is common to all but the manifestations of God in such a time like this are for those who through faith will connect to the Owner and Giver of every good gifts. Your situation and that of your country should rather move you into intercessory prayers and not to murmurings. Complaints and war with all manners of sufferings will yield nothing but more heartaches and delusions but if you will ask for divine visitation, your land and family shall be healed. God is calling you to stand in the gap like Ezra and pray for a positive change in your land. Join hands with fellow brethren and ask the Lord to heal our nations as He has promised in His word. God is able to do all things and I know as we pray without ceasing, He will answer from heaven and give us new songs to sing. It shall be well with our land in Jesus’ mighty name.
Pray with me: Father, I’m not complaining, I’m only asking for your timely intervention to the situation of my country and that you turn us around into total restoration of abundant life. Help us O Lord.
