FIFA FIFPRO WORLD11 2017 55-MAN SHORTLIST REVEALED

FIFPro, the worldwide players’ union, and FIFA have today announced the final 55-player shortlist for the FIFA FIFPro World11 2017.

The FIFA FIFPro World11, which will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ in London on Monday 23 October, will consist of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards.

The line-up is decided by the players themselves, with more than 24,000 professional footballers from across the world selecting their best XI in a 4-3-3 formation based on performances from the 2016/17 season (August 2016 to June 2017).

More information on the voting procedure, which is handled by FIFPro and its national affiliates, can be found in the rules of allocation.

PLATEAU UNITED EMERGE CHAMPIONS OF NPFL 2016/2017 SEASON

 

Plateau United of Jos defeated Enugu Rangers 2-0 to emerge Champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League for the 2016/2017 season.

Plateau united claimed the prestigious title for the first time in their history making them the 19th different winner of the title.

 

Here are some interesting stats of the newly crowned Champions

  • Plateau united scored 49 goals this season, three more than any other team in the NPFL.
  • Before the final game they have been on the run of 40 matches unbeaten at home since 0 – 1 loss to Ranger in 2011.
  • Plateau united accrued most away points (13) by any NPFL side this season
  • The champions kept the most cleansheet (17)
  • They conceded the fewest goals (25) by any NPFL team

However, disappointment for the Oluyole Warriors 3SC as the got relegated from the league alongside Gombe United, ABS Ilorin and Remo Stars.

MFM FC Lagos will be playing in the Caf Champions League for coming second while Enyimba will represent the Nation in the Caf Confederations Cup Championship.
